Matting Policy
Bark and Bathe Matting Policy
At Bark and Bathe, the comfort and safety of your dog is our top priority. We understand that life can get busy, and sometimes a dog’s coat may become matted. While we will always do our best to restore your dog’s coat, excessive matting requires special attention. Please read our matting policy below:
1. Assessment of Matting
• During your dog’s appointment, we will assess the condition of their coat. If matting is present, we will discuss the options with you before proceeding.
• In cases of mild matting, we may be able to safely remove the tangles with additional time and care.
2. Severe Matting
• If the matting is severe, brushing out the tangles can cause significant discomfort or even pain for your dog. In such cases, we will recommend a full clip-down to remove the mats.
• While clipping the coat short may not be the desired look, it is often the most humane and comfortable option for your pet.
3. Additional Time and Fees
• Matting requires more time, effort, and specialised care. If additional grooming time is needed due to matting, there will be an extra charge. This will be discussed with you beforehand.
• Please note that severely matted coats may require a longer appointment to ensure your dog’s comfort and safety.
4. Preventing Matting
• To prevent matting in the future, we recommend regular brushing at home and scheduling frequent grooming appointments. We’re happy to advise on the best tools and techniques for your dog’s coat type.
5. Disclaimer
• Removing mats, particularly those close to the skin, can occasionally reveal underlying skin conditions or irritation. We will notify you if we notice any issues during the grooming process.
• Bark and Bathe is not responsible for any pre-existing skin conditions or irritation uncovered during the mat removal process.
